CSC Orion v 15A dedicated analysis, design and drafting solution for
reinforced concrete building structures Orion provides a unique central
2D/3D modelling environment from which automatic analysis, design and
drafting is derived for the engineer. Orion is perfect for any size
concrete building project and caters for a wide range of concrete
structural systems. Multiple tender schemes can be assessed in a
fraction of the time taken by conventional software. Once the project is
secure, detailed design and drafting time is dramatically reduced.
Project changes are handled automatically by simply amending the central
model or loading. Orion updates the rest, enabling your company to
provide a responsive service to demanding clients. Detailed
calculations, material quantities, structural layout plans, beam and
slab elevations and column schedules are all produced automatically from
one central model. Modelling Orion is based on a physical model. This
facilitates the automatic generation of downstream analysis, design and
detailing information. Models can be generated directly using a host of
intuitive commands. Alternatively, DXF drawing references can be
imported directly from CAD to assist model creation. Flexible graphical
environment with easy 2D graphical input for model generation. Create
and work with beams, columns and slabs handled as objects not analytical
elements. DXF import for automatic creation of columns Option to import
architects' layout from AutoCADTM. The architectural drawing can be
"traced over" to generate the Orion Model. 3D rendered visualisation
with fly-through animation for checking and also impressive client
presentations. Orion supports friendly cut, copy, paste and mirroring
functions to speed up repetitive operations. Beams can be input without
the need for a grid DXF import for automatic creation of columns Axes
can now wrap corners providing design and detailing for curved building
facades Transfer beams, including walls on transfer beams. Columns can
be supported at any level. Rigid links - automatic connectivity of beam
and columns ateccentric intersections. Analysis Orion uses a very fast,
dedicated building solver to assess the complete structural system. The
dedicated concrete finite element package allows detailed assessment of
floors. Automatic calculation for centre of gravity and rigidity. Fully
automated FE Shell and Mid Pier wall modelling options Automatic
calculation of all self weight loads from all slabs/beams/columns/walls.
Automatic calculation of beam loads derived from all uniform and/or
concentrated slab loads. Automatic generation of building notional
horizontal loads. Automatic generation of beam pattern loads. Option to
include additional lateral loading such as wind loading. Option for
automatic generation of Finite Element Mesh for detailed analysis of
floors and raft foundations. Updated rigid diaphragm modeling options.
Fully automated FE shell and mid pier wall modelling options (as
discussed in the Structural Engineer - Feb 2006). Finite element floor
module provides fast results for flat slabs, conventional slabs and raft
foundation systems. Floor diaphragms can be set at any floor level and
discrete diaphragms are fully supported. Design Automated batch design
or interactively user-controlled design. Orion supports a range of
structural systems including beam-slab, waffle slabs, ribbed slabs,
pre-cast, flat slab (plate) and flat slab with drop panels. High quality
"As-built" design and analysis calculations automatically generated and
compiled in pdf format: Post processor provides graphical displays of
all 3D analysis results including transparency for clarity of results in
the model view. Automatic batch design mode for all elements, or you
can interactively control the design of each column, wall, or beam
member. Automatic design of regular slabs based on Design Code Moment
Coefficient Method. Foundation design for pad and strip footings and
raft systems. Element grouping for standardisation of similar sections
and layout. Outstanding quality of printed design calculations.
Pass/Fail design status view. Drafting From the central model, Orion
will automatically generate high quality, practical drawings in minutes.
Simply make changes to the model and quickly assess the impact on your
drawings using check mode. Fully compatible with popular CAD software.
Orion will automatically generate a complete quantity take-off for
concrete, reinforcement and formwork. This can be tabulated or included
within the drawings. Automatic slab detailing in plan and in
section.Area of steel contour plots with DXF export.Automatic beam
elevation drawings including curtailment and link arrangements, with
sections and reinforcement schedule.Automatic column schedule drawings,
column elevation drawings, or column application plans with
reinforcement schedules. Automatic material quantity listings including
quantities of reinforcement in schedules. Drawings from Orion are fully
compatible with AutoCADTM and other DXF compatible CAD software. Full
layer and pen control is included.
